According to government data, 60 new MBBS colleges were opened this year, bringing the total number of MBBS colleges in India to 766. Of these 766 colleges, 343 are private, and 423 are medical colleges. With the addition of these new colleges, students will not only benefit from the increased number of seats but also get to study in more institutions. PG Seats Are Also Increased

Along with MBBS, NEET PG (Post Graduate) seats have also increased significantly this year. This government step towards improving medical education will greatly relieve PG aspirants.

Benefits of Increased MBBS Seats

This news is important for students taking admission to MBBS through NEET UG, as the increase in seats is likely to reduce the level of competition to some extent. More seats mean that students will now have more opportunities, and the problem of seat shortage will improve. This move will not only boost the quality of medical education but will also strengthen the country’s health infrastructure, especially in rural and backward areas.

What About Seats Increment in Future?

Well, it’s not confirmed that MBBS seats will increase in 2025 or 2026, but the government will most probably add some more new medical colleges and new seats in the existing colleges. Nevertheless, we expect an increase in seats so that competition in NEET remains balanced.
