Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar recently made a historic and visionary announcement for the RBSE board students. He announced that the RBSE board exams will be held twice in a year from the next session.
This announcement left everyone amazed, as it was unexpected from anyone. However, the CBSE board recently made this change in the CBSE board exam pattern and implemented the two-time board exam. There are still many layers to be revealed about the two board exams in RBSE board, so let’s wait and see what happens.
Until then, we have prepared this article to provide you with more information about the RBSE Two board exams.
Announcement Tweet of Madan Dilawar
Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar made an important announcement on his official Twitter account (https://twitter.com/RBSE) –
Through this tweet, he clarified that the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) will now conduct its board exams twice a year. The first exam will be compulsory for all students, while the second exam will be known as the “Improvement Opportunity Exam,” in which students can improve their scores in up to three subjects.
What is Two Board Exams Policy in RBSE Board?
According to the new policy, the Rajasthan Board will now conduct its main examinations for class 10 and 12 twice a year.
The first examination will be held at the scheduled time at the beginning of the year. In contrast, the second examination will be held a few months later for students who wish to either take supplementary exams or improve their scores.
Appearing for the first examination will be mandatory for all students. The second exam will be optional—only students who wish to improve their scores in up to three subjects or who have received supplementary exams will be able to take it.
Both exams will cover the full syllabus, meaning students will have to prepare for the entire course in each exam. However, the best scores from both exams will be added to a student’s final result. This can be called a “Best of Two” system, which will benefit students instead of harming them.
Is it The Same as the CBSE Twice Exam System?
Two board exams in the RBSE rule is largely similar to the CBSE’s twice-a-year examination system, but there are some critical differences.
In fact, the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) recently announced that it would conduct exams twice a year for Class 10 students—to provide them with more opportunities to improve their performance and alleviate the pressure of a single exam.
The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) has taken this idea forward and decided to implement it more broadly.
According to the RBSE’s plan, this twice-a-year examination system will not be limited to Class 10 alone, but will apply to all board classes (both 10th and 12th). This means that all Rajasthan Board students—whether in secondary or senior secondary education—will now have the option to take exams twice a year.
However, the full official circular regarding this system has not yet been released. As soon as the board releases detailed guidelines and timetables, it will become clear about the exam dates, evaluation process, and how results will be calculated.
For now, it is certain that the Rajasthan Board, like the CBSE, will offer students the benefit of “Best of Two Exams” – giving millions of students in the state more opportunities, less stress, and a new path towards better results.
Benefits of the RBSE Two Board Exams’
This policy will provide numerous academic and psychological benefits to students.
1. The first major benefit is reduced stress.
The pressure to score well in a single exam will be eliminated, as students will receive a second chance. This will reduce exam anxiety, and students will approach exams with greater confidence.
2. The second benefit is the opportunity to improve their scores.
A mistake in a single subject will no longer waste an entire year. Students can improve their scores by retaking exams in up to three subjects. This will also increase their chances of admission to higher education institutions.
3. The third benefit is improved self-assessment.
After the first exam, students will be able to analyse their performance—which subjects need improvement, where their weaknesses lie, and what strategies can be used to achieve better results in the second exam.
4. And fourth, this system will ensure continuous academic development for students.
Now, students will study not just to “pass” a result, but to “improve their knowledge.”
How to Prepare for Two Board Exams In RBSE Board?
No, it currently seems unlikely that this new system will be implemented from the 2025-26 academic session.
Education Minister Madan Dilawar’s tweet clearly states that this system will be implemented “from the next academic session,” but he did not specify which session this refers to.
However, from an academic and administrative perspective, this seems more likely to refer to the 2026-27 session.
Indeed, the examinations for the current (2025-26) session are scheduled to be held in just a few months.
In such a situation, adopting this new pattern will be extremely difficult for the board, schools, and students.
Major changes will be required at various levels, including the examination calendar, syllabus distribution, evaluation process, and technical preparations, which will necessitate considerable time.
For this reason, it is anticipated that the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) will implement this new “twice-examination” system from the 2026-27 academic year.
This will not only give the board time to streamline the system but will also give schools and students an opportunity to adapt their study and preparation methods to the new format.
