How to start NDA preparation from 11th class?

The National Defence Academy (NDA) exam is one of the most prestigious exams in India. Since this exam opens doors to important jobs in the country, such as the Navy, Army, and Air Force, the NDA exams follow a different testing route compared to other competitive exams like JEE or NEET

And this is one of the reasons why the future Army officers should start preparing after their 10th class itself. Thus, in this blog, we are going to guide students on how to start NDA preparation from 11th class for better scores in the written exam and excellent performance in the SSB interview.

Is the 11th class the Best Time to Start Preparation for NDA?

Before we provide you with all the tips you need for the upcoming NDA exam, we will let you know whether the 11th class is the best starting point or not.

We all know, NDA is quite distinct compared to other competitive exams. This test demands theoretical, practical, and general knowledge abilities of the aspirant. So, starting the NDA preparation from 11th standard is actually the best decision any aspirant could take.

How to start NDA preparation from 11th class?

Well, for starters, preparing for competitive exams alongside managing everyday school seems hectic. However, experts say that preparing for competitive exams like the NDA from the first day of 11th grade is the best way to tackle stress and achieve a stable knowledge base. So, let’s see how you can start your NDA preparation from the 11th class here:

1. Collection of resources

Since day one of 11th class, it’s important for an NDA aspirant to start researching for all the resources needed to start preparation. One of such is building an exclusive time sheet for every day that manages both school and the NDA prep in parallel. Collecting important books, past-year papers, mock tests, current affairs, and other general knowledge resources is crucial, as GN and current affairs play a key role in this exam, unlike JEE or NEET. However, it is safer for aspirants to go for NDA coaching, as researching the resources is a time-consuming process. Besides, joining NDA coaching programs like Prince and Sikar not only saves time but also strengthens your chances of preparing with peace and high accuracy.

2. Focus on NCERT

We all know that the National Defence Academy (NDA) exam is conducted twice annually by the prestigious UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) board. This test comprises Mathematics as one of the main subjects. Science, General knowledge, and Current affairs are the other subjects involved in this test. Well, the PCM students can expect most of the mathematics, physics, and other science-related questions from the NCERT textbooks, which are the main resources for the 11th and 12th board exams.

So, technically, 40-50% of NDA preparation is already covered in your daily classrooms. So, never neglect NCERT textbooks.

In your daily timesheet, make sure you allocate at least an hour for NCERT reading. Focus on major topics like Laws of Motion, Work-Energy-Power, Rotational Motion, Thermodynamics, Optics, Waves & Oscillations, Magnetism & Electromagnetic Induction, and more from NCERT Physics. Atomic Structure & Periodic Table, Chemical Bonding & Molecular Structure, States of Matter, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Environmental Chemistry topics from NCERT Chemistry.

Finally, allocate some special focus on topics like Relations and Functions, Matrices and Determinants, Limits, continuity, differentiation, Vectors and 3D Geometry, Probability, Applications of Integrals, Sets and Functions, Algebra, Trigonometry, Permutations and Combinations, and statistics from NCERT Mathematics.

Make sure you make a chart of all the important topics and subtopics of all the importnat NCERT topics for daily reference. Try to revisit the topics you learned at school at home for better memorisation of the topics.

3. Selecting Proper Study Material

Apart from NCERT, NDA aspirants must follow up with current affairs and other general knowledge resources from class 11th itself. Try to allocate at least one hour a day studying NDA oriented general knowledge books like Lucid and Arihant for GN. For current affairs, you can check Manorama Yearbook, and some online PDFs are also available with updated information.

Again, joining a proper NDA coaching like Prince Sikar NDA academy will release this study material research as they update the study material every year with highly accurate information from all sectors of India. Prince NDA study material even covers advanced topics with previous question paper-inspired mock tests in Maths and science that will help in improving problem-solving skills in the final exam.

4. Regular Revision and Testing

Regular revision of NCERT, General Knowledge, and Current Affairs at least every week is the best NDA exam practice one can follow to ease up the prep. Mock tests are one such practice that allows you to test your knowledge on a weekly basis. Try to make your own mock tests, or take an online test based on the weekly syllabus you covered so far.

Preparing own mock tests is a complex job, and online tests are not always NDA-grade. However, top NDA institutes are known for preparing final exam-level mock test papers. Prince NDA centre is one of them; the coaching centre’s experienced teachers create mock test papers by researching all the previous year papers.

5. Communication and Personal Training

Besides the primary written tests, the SSB interview that the aspirant faces after the selection will decide their future in the NDA. This last step of NDA selection not only depends on the student’s academic knowledge but also on the communication, presentation, and confidence of the aspirant. Most of the self-trained are not able to cross this step as they don’t prepare themselves enough to present their knowledge in front of the most disciplined interviewers in the country.

A mock interview is the sole solution to this. Try to practice using online resources to sharpen your presentation skills, communication skills, spontaneity, and pronunciation. But if you would like to choose a coaching path, institutes like Prince already have integrated regular mock interview sessions with experts that will boost your interview skills overall. Also, Prince mainly focuses on improving the aspirant’s confidence and decreasing the nervousness for the final SSB interview with the help of in-house trainers.

Conclusion

In conclusion, preparing for NDA from the 11th class is one of the smart decisions. NDA Preparation from the 11th class will guarantee the quick and proper completion of the syllabus, which leaves plenty of room for revision before the final exam.

After all, joining a coaching centre like the Prince NDA, the best NDA coaching in Rajassthan, helps you in planning a dedicated timetable that manages both preparation for NDA exams and your board exams. Prince’s experience teaching staff not only helps you with weekly mock tests but also improves your presentation skills for the SSB interview with professional guidance.
