JAB Restored 2 Attempts for JEE Advanced

Earlier, on November 5th, 2024, JEE aspirants were surprised when the JEE Advanced 2024 criterion was released, as JAB increased one attempt for JEE Advanced. But today, JAB (Joint Admission Board) released a press release stating the restoration of two attempts for JEE Advanced.

In the press note released, JAB, Joint Admission Board, mentioned that the board has decided to restore the earlier eligibility criterion used in previous years of some attempts in JEE (Advanced), superseding the criterion mentioned in the Press Release dated November 05, 2024. This has been done after considering various competing requirements in the JAB meeting held on November 15, 2024. This has restored the earlier eligibility criteria that have been followed since 2013.

Nutshells of the News

  • 2 Attempt rule for JEE Advanced has been restored.
  • The three-attempt rule will not apply to any attempt in the near future.
  • The eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced remain the same with no changes.

2023 PassOuts Will Not Be Eligible for JEE Advanced 2025

Apart from all the aspirants, 2023 passout students were happy, as they would have got one more chance to appear in JEE Advanced. But now, as the criteria have been updated and the third attempt for JEE Advanced has been taken back, they will not be able to participate in JEE Advanced 2025.

Other Eligibility Criteria Remain the Same

To ensure that the eligibility criteria are clear, the Joint Admission Board clearly states that there are no further changes in the eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced, including age criteria, 75% criteria, and others.

Relief for Freshers

This decision has brought relief to the students who are appearing in JEE Advanced for the first time. When the rule of an additional attempt was released on 5 November 2024, there was concern among the freshers of the 2024 batch that the number of droppers would lead to a higher score in the exam. However, droppers who passed the 12th class in 2023 will not be able to take this exam.
