Will NTA be Removed

As you all know, the NTA (National Testing Agency) is under question due to the recent controversies regarding the NEET UG 2024 exam. Due to these controversies, the matter has reached such an extent that people have started wondering Will NTA be removed from conducting NEET exams in future.

And the way the transparency of NTA is questioned, many experts are there expect it to happen. But what’s the reality? Will NTA be removed, or are these just rumours of the heat of the moment?

The clear answer is mentioned in this article, and we have also discussed it in detail so that you can understand the chronology of the NEET exam conduction body. So, if you have the same question, will NTA be removed, you should stay here.

Brief Introduction to The NTA

The short form stands for National Testing Agency. It is an exam-conducting body that conducts various entrance exams in India, including NEET, JEE Main, CUET, CMAT, G-PAT, etc. In addition to the entrance exams, NTA conducts many other recruitment exams for reputed institutions.

The NTA has been conducting the NEET exam since 2016. Before that, the NEET (earlier known as AIPMT) was conducted by CBSE. For some reason, the NEET was started and handed over to the NTA. However, due to recent controversies, many students started to demand that CBSE conduct the NEET exam again.

Why Was NEET Taken Away From CBSE?

In 2015, the AIPMT (All India Pre-Medical Test) paper was leaked and allegedly distributed among 40 aspirants. The issue was raised in the Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court ordered the exam to be re-conducted and the credibility of CBSE as an exam-conducting body reexamined.

After analysis, the government decided to conduct NEET instead of AIPMT and consider the NTA for conducting the NEET exam. Since then, it’s been 9 years since NTA has been conducting NEET. Now, history is repeating itself, and the NEET exam serenity is damaged. Let’s see what happens next; Will NTA be removed just like CBSE or not?

Why Students Are Demanding to Remove NTA?

It all started when the NEET UG 2024 registration window re-opened for two days. This year, NTA opened the registration window for two more days, which is unusual. After that, on 5th May 2024, many aspirants accused the NEET paper leaked before the exam. The third concern was raised when the results came out.

On 4 June 2024, NTA released the NEET UG 2024 result, which was scheduled for 14 June 2024. Well, it was not a big deal. However, when the results came out, the answer keys with unusual markings went viral; students scored 718 & 719 marks, which was impossible due to the NEET marking scheme.

When NTA asked about these weird scores, NTA said that we had given bonus marks to the students to compensate for the delayed starting of exams in certain centres. In one more reply, NTA mentioned that, in total, we gave around 1563 students bonus marks.

Last but not least, 67 students scored perfect scores and got AIR-1 in NEET UG 2024. This is the first time in NEET history that so many candidates have received AIR-1. Among these 67 aspirants, 6 students are from the same centre and in the same sequence, which is no coincidence.

Due to all these issues, the students are angry, and NTA is being held responsible for this. Hence, it is also being demanded that NTA be boycotted and removed from conducting NEET exams in the future.

Should NTA Be Removed For Irregularities in NEET 2024?

If we look at it from the moral ground, this is a very big issue, and wrong has been done to the students, but is it so big that the NTA should be removed as NEET conducting body?

We don’t think it is! Obviously, there are irregularities in NEET UG 2024, and NTA is the only one responsible for them. But, overall, we have to accept that NTA is a reputed testing agency capable of conducting huge exams like NEET UG. There may be some shortcomings in NTA, and some people may be corrupt there, but shortcomings can be solved, and NTA can be made a better testing agency.

Will NTA be Removed?

As of now, there is no chance that the Supreme Court will order the removal of the NTA and the handover of the NEET to any other testing agency. However, the hearing sessions in the Supreme Court are ongoing, and the court asked for a detailed report on the irregularities in NEET UG 2024.

All the petitions are to re-conduct NEET 2024. No single petition in the Supreme Court has requested that NTA be removed, so as of now, there is no chance that it will be removed. If this happens, then this will be a big change among the changes that will happen in NEET 2025

Here is What Will Happen If NTA Will Removed

Many aspirants want to know what will happen if NTA is removed and who will take over NTA and conduct NEET UG exams in the future. Although there is no official news related to the topic, some expected conducting bodies are CBSE and NMC. Most probably, if NTA gets removed, NMC will conduct NEET UG exams in the future. However, there are a few chances of NTA being suspended.
