Competition in CUET
Competition in CUET

With each passing year, an increasing number of students wish to take the CUET exam. If you’re one of those students, then you probably have already looked at tips, guides and other such articles. But do you know about the level of competition in CUET?

Since many top colleges and universities accept CUET scores for admission, the exam has become incredibly competitive. To be properly prepared for CUET, you also need to understand the exam’s intensity. So, let’s look at the details and know how the competition is in CUET. Moreover, we will analyse whether competition will increase in CUET?

Analysis of CUET Competition Level

The intensity and competition in CUET have been on the rise, although not for the reasons you might think. If you ask seniors and others who cleared the exam, they might come to the same point: CUET is not as tough when compared to other exams like JEE and NEET, as it has the same syllabus as the 12th board NCERT, which makes CUET much easier compared to other competitive exams.

Apart from this basic analysis of competition in CUET, many other factors affect the competition in any exam, including the number of registrations, available seats, selection ratio, exam paper difficulty level, etc.

Factors Affecting Competition Level in CUET

Many hidden but important factors influence the competition in the CUET exam. As awareness of higher education increases among students at the national level, the number of participants in this exam is also rising rapidly. Also, the guidance provided by coaching institutes, the availability of online resources, and the socio-economic background of students are changing the nature of this competition. The combination of all these factors determines the intensity of competition in CUET and the challenges it presents in achieving success.

The first point is the number of registrations. When more students register and appear for the exam, it increases the number of students competing for the same seat or course. Just last year, over 13 lakh students had registered for CUET 2024. Not to mention that not having an age limit allows many more people to apply for the exam.

Additionally, the exam only allows a single attempt, making the applicants more determined to clear the exam with near-perfect scores.

Along with registrations, the number of seats also has a significant impact on the competition in CUET. When there are fewer than 3 lakh seats for more than 13 lakh CUET aspirants, the fight for each seat becomes more intense.

Take 2024 as an example. There were over 13 lakh registered students, but roughly 2.5 lakh seats across the country. That means there are 5 students competing for every seat.

When discussing seats, you also need to consider the selection ratio. The selection ratio is just the number of seats/students selected compared to the total number of students who appeared in the exam.

Although it might seem like the selection ratio will be the same across the country, it’s the opposite. The selection ratio for CUET varies across different institutions and can change depending on the specific course or university.

For example, in 2024, Banaras Hindu University got approximately 8 lakh applications, while Delhi University got around 26 lakh. In this case, the competition for DU was obviously incredibly high compared to BHU.

For cut-offs, it’s a similar case. When considering the competition for CUET across the country, there will be many universities with high cut-off scores, like in the case of Delhi University. However, there will also be some courses and universities where you might have lower cut-offs.

Another fact is that cut-off, just like selection ratios, can change depending on the number of students applying for a particular university or course. Say you want to apply for B.A Hons (English) at Delhi University, you might need to get at least the 98 percentile for CUET. However, if you apply at a university with relatively less demand, you can get the course you want with a 70+ percentile score.

Another major factor which impacts the cut-off, and the competition in CUET as a whole, is the difficulty of the paper. The exam difficulty in CUET can decide how many students end up with 95+ percentile scores.

As CUET is completely based on the 11th & 12th board NCERT, it is relatively easier when compared to JEE and NEET. Because of this reason, the number of students who score above 95 percentile is much higher than would be expected. This makes the competition for high-demand courses and universities that much more intense.

For example, if five students, all with a 95 percentile, want the same seat, how will you guarantee your spot? In that case, you have to do your absolute best to get as high a score as possible.

So, what do you do to make sure you don’t get overwhelmed by the competition? Look for advice.

How to GET AIR-1 in CUET: Toppers Tips

Will Competition increase in CUET?

Will Competition increase in CUET
Will Competition increase in CUET

With all these factors deciding how competitive the exam will be, we can even make educated guesses. One major question we can answer is: Will competition increase in CUET? And the answer is yes.

The primary reason why competition is expected to increase in the future is that the number of registrations is rising. As more courses and universities start accepting CUET scores as the base requirement, many will apply and even appear for the exam. However, we have seen in other exams as well that the number of applicants each year is far greater than the number of available seats.

Another reason why competition in CUET could increase in the future is the difficulty of the exam. So far, the exam isn’t difficult to score well on. However, since it’s still a relatively new competitive exam, this could change within a few years.

Topper’s advice on CUET

The main tips seen for CUET are based on the competition. Since the competition in CUET is quite high, it is advisable to practice as many mock tests as possible. You should also start your CUET preparations from the 11th class to understand your domain subjects more thoroughly.

Don’t wait for the last minute, thinking that the exam will be easy. Losing even 1 per cent from your score can be a huge hit to your chances at your desired university and course. Another point to note is that because CUET is MCQ-based, you should be practising to solve multiple-choice questions quickly and accurately.

Conclusion

Is competition in CUET high? Very. The exam itself is not extremely hard. However, there are other reasons why it is so competitive. With the high number of registrations and the limited number of seats available, there are several reasons why the exam is highly competitive. While not all of them were mentioned, the points explained were some of the most important factors for the exam’s competitiveness.

Now that you know about the competition in CUET, you can make decisions to prepare for the exam early!. Make sure to practice and revise so that even the incredible competition is nothing more than a tiny speed bump in your journey to success!

Is CUET a Good Option
Is CUET a Good Option

The CUET (Common University Entrance Test) exam has been here only for a few years, but it has already become an essential exam for many college admissions. Out of the lakhs of students who have attempted CUET, there are 2 clear but opposing opinions. Some say that CUET was the right choice, while others say that it’s a waste of time. So is it really important? And is CUET a good option for you?

To answer the question, let’s go through some important questions on CUET. We’ll dive into questions like what CUET is meant to test, why it’s important, and who should choose CUET.  To help you understand if CUET is a good option for you, we’ll also go through some advantages and disadvantages of the exam. So read along and find out whether CUET is the way for you!

What does CUET assess in Students?

Getting straight to the point, CUET tests 3 main areas in a student. The first is their expertise in a subject. CUET allows you to pick your main/domain subject. This is because you only have to take the exam for your chosen course. Through this, the exam tests your knowledge in your chosen topic and course.

The next area which CUET tests is your language proficiency. When applying for the exam, you can select up to 2 languages. This part of the exam is not just to test your language skills, but also to push you to improve them. Through CUET, you can also get used to the kinds of questions asked in other language proficiency tests.

Lastly, the exam is also designed to test your critical thinking. For that, CUET has an aptitude test section. This section tests a student’s logical reasoning, general knowledge, quantitative reasoning, and mental ability. As this section is optional, you only need to give it if your course or university requires it.

Is CUET a Good Option?

Yes, CUET is a good option relative to your career goal. It depends on your goals and the course you want. Since experts have designed the exam pattern, the questions are designed to test your knowledge, aptitude and language much more efficiently. Additionally, the scoring is designed to be fair, the selection process is transparent, and the scores are accepted nationwide.

CUET has also made applying to universities easier. Every year, more universities allow admissions based on CUET student merit. Not just that, but CUET also has a wide range of courses, allowing students to apply for their dream courses.

So why is CUET important? There are a few reasons. As an exam, its percentile-based evaluation is meant to allow fair and transparent scoring. Additionally, the wide range of courses and the number of universities accepting CUET allow more students to enrol in the course they want.

Of course, like any other exam, CUET has pros and cons. Let’s explore them both to help you decide better.

  • You no longer need to pass extremely high cutoff requirements for universities. Many have already moved to accepting CUET scores, making it easy to meet admission requirements. However, competition in CUET also increases every year.
  • Top performers in CUET could get merit-based scholarships, which are offered by various universities and government bodies. The added financial aid can lessen the burden on deserving students.
  • You can improve your English proficiency through your CUET preparation. As language is one part of the test, you must master your selected language for CUET. As English is a global language taught in almost all schools, improving it will only benefit you.
  • Although unexpected, CUET can also enhance your resume. Getting a good score in CUET will show your ability to clear a national-level exam. It shows you have strong aptitude, subject knowledge, and test-taking skills.
  • The exam also gives you the flexibility and freedom to choose your subject combinations. Because of its exam pattern, CUET allows students to select subject combinations and languages which align with their strengths and goals.
  • Because of its structure, CUET is much more accessible. As one exam for many universities, it eases the burden on students who would otherwise need to take multiple exams for different colleges. It also allows students from remote and rural areas to be admitted to the country’s top central universities.
Prince Academy CUET Result 2024: CUET AIR-1 2024
  • One disadvantage is the extra stress. Giving any exam is stressful, and preparing for CUET alongside the board exams can add to a student’s burdens. It also pressures students to perform well in CUET.
  • As CUET focuses on academic excellence, it can overlook students who are talented in extracurricular activities. Due to this limitation, the exam might not give a holistic view of a student’s capabilities.
  • Unlike other competitive exams, students need to prepare for the language test, and in some cases, the general test as well. Even for domain subjects, if you choose two different subjects, you will need to travel and give separate exams for both. This makes both the preparation and the exam itself time-consuming.
  • As CUET is important for college admissions, students might get distracted from their boards. The problem is, even if you can score well in your boards, your dream college might reject you based on low CUET scores.
  • Another problem is if students are studying in a board that doesn’t use the NCERT in their syllabus. This means that students will have to study for CUET separately. This not only makes the preparation more time-consuming, but also increases the pressure on a student.
  • The last downside is that since CUET is still a relatively new exam, there could be changes in the future. Any changes, whether it’s to the exam pattern or syllabus, would impact the students’ preparations.

Who Should Choose CUET?

Now that we know its pros and cons, there’s one last question to answer: Who should choose CUET? Based on the points mentioned above, let’s look at who should apply for CUET and who should think twice.

As with other exams, CUET isn’t for everyone. You can think of applying for CUET if:

  • You want to join central universities such as DU, JNU, Hyderabad University, etc.
  • You have multiple universities in mind, but you can’t apply for all their individual entrance exams
  • You would like a slightly easier exam for science and engineering compared to the JEE or NEET.

Read Also – How Prince Academy is the best CUET Coaching in Sikar?

Who Should Not Apply for CUET?

While CUET is highly accessible, it’s not the best option for everyone. If the points below seem like you, then you should not apply for CUET if:

  • You’re aiming for top universities like IIT/AIIMS, which have their own exams like JEE and NEET.
  • You’re aiming for highly competitive exams like JEE or NEET, which top universities and recruiters highly value.
  • You want more college options for state and private universities.

Conclusion

CUET has become an important entrance exam for many students. It also offers a fair and centralized way to apply to multiple universities. While it has some clear advantages, like accessibility and flexibility, it also has some drawbacks. Some of these are that it is too focused on academics and that the preparation is too time-consuming.

So, is CUET a good option? It depends on your own goals and dreams. If you want to apply for a private university like AIIMS or IIT, you’d be better off applying for JEE or NEET. However, if you’re applying to a central university like DU, CUET might be the option for you. Make sure to weigh the pros and cons, and decide on the path which fits you best.

How to GET AIR-1 in CUET
How to GET AIR-1 in CUET

Are you aiming for AIR-1 in CUET but don’t know where to start? Look no further! Learn how to get AIR-1 in CUET right here! We have gathered tips from both toppers and experts! Some of the tips you will see might be common. But they’re common precisely because they’re important.

Don’t forget that while CUET is considered easier compared to JEE and NEET, it is still a difficult competitive exam. If you want to aim for the top in CUET and want to get AIR-1, read along and learn from the best!

How to Get AIR-1 in CUET

Before we get into the main tips, there is one point you need to remember. As an undergraduate entrance exam, the exam will only have material from classes 11th & 12th. So, if you want to crack and get AIR-1 in CUET, you need to master the 11th & 12th concepts and do extra focus on your 11th & 12th syllabus. Well, the ways to help in getting AIR-1 in CUET are as follows;

To excel at CUET, you need to start your preparation as early as possible, and a good place to start is in the 11th class. As discussed earlier, the CUET syllabus is almost identical to the 11th and 12th.

Although the level of the CUET exam will be higher than the 11th & 12th Board classes, the basics of both are the same. That is why starting your CUET preparation with the 11th is the best option for someone who wants to get AIR-1 in CUET. Many institutes are there who has a foundation course for CUET. One of these institutes is Prince Academy, the best CUET Coaching in Sikar.

The next important tip is understanding the syllabus, pattern, and marking scheme of the exam. The syllabus for class 12th is completely taken from the NCERT. So you need to study the NCERT well before trying out study guides.

You also need to understand the exam pattern and marking scheme to understand how to make your study plans. Learning about them will help you know the questions faster and which topics to focus on first.

Don’t just select your favorite subject blindly. Choose subjects you are strong in. Picking your strengths will allow you to improve them, giving you more time to study for the language and the general test.

Make a schedule or plan with a set goal in mind. Create a detailed study plan that covers all your subjects. Set a goal for each day or week in your study plan. This will help you stay motivated as you complete your small goals one by one while also acting as a personal progress tracker.

Practice and revise each topic as you complete it. You can make short notes as you study a topic. These notes will help you to revise a topic more easily and faster over time. But not just once. To aim for AIR-1 in CUET, you need to practice topics repeatedly until you know everything about them.

Repetitive practice is not just good for revising topics. It is also an effective way to increase your speed and efficiency. If you increase the speed at which you can read and understand a topic, you can study faster as time goes on.

Your speed and efficiency at studying or understanding topics can drastically change the amount of time you have remaining as the exam approaches.

While it is recommended to stick to NCERT, it doesn’t mean you can’t use any extra study material. You can and should use the question papers from the previous year for practice. They will also help you understand the exam pattern better.

You can even use some guides or study material that coaches and schools give to students. These can help you understand some of the harder topics and subjects after you have already tried the NCERT.

How To Prepare For CUET From Class 11

Final Tips for AIR-1 in CUET

As you get closer to the exam, some tips are very important to consider if you want to top in CUET. Follow these tips along with the ones above if you want the best score in CUET:

  1. Consistency – One of the most important points is to be consistent. Be consistent in your revisions. Be consistent in your mock tests. Be consistent in following your study plan. Consistency will be the most significant factor in how much you remember from your preparations.
  1. Perfection – Now, what do we mean by perfection? Perfection here means that you should minimise as many mistakes as possible. Focus on improving your accuracy. Reduce the number of errors you make in each practice test.
  2. Even attempting multiple practice tests will help you to improve and perfect your approach towards the exam.
  1. Avoid Social Media & Other Distractions – Avoiding distractions will get tougher as the exam approaches. But if you want to top in CUET, you must stay determined and avoid the temptations.
  1. Mindset of AIR-1 – The most important point is to keep the mentality of an AIR-1. Staying in this mindset will help you stay motivated and focus on your studies. This mindset will also help you stay mentally strong and determined in your preparation.

Conclusion

Knowing how to get AIR-1 in CUET is not just about following the tips. These tips are meant to help you improve your performance and preparation. But while you should be determined to top the CUET, you also need to take care of your health and well-being.

The road to getting AIR-1 is tough, and keeping yourself mentally and physically healthy is the key to achieving your goals. As long as you stay consistent in following these tips from toppers and stay healthy, you’ll get to rank 1 in no time!

If you want to know more about CUET, why to start preparing early, and tips to prepare for CUET from Class 11, keep on reading!

What is the CUET?

CUET (Central University Entrance Test) is a competitive exam that allows students to apply to the participating central universities in India. Giving CUET allows students to apply for many different UG and PG courses in these universities. As with other entrance exams, CUET is also conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency).

Recently, NTA made some changes in CUET; after that, CUET has 27 subjects from which you can choose for the exam. Including the languages, you can choose up to a maximum of 5 subjects. It can be 2 languages, 2 domain subjects and 1 general, or 1 language, 3 domain subjects and 1 general for the exam.

Some of the available subject domains are Accountancy/Bookkeeping, Home Sciences, Physics, Biology, and Legal studies. CUET also has two different language sections. Section 1A has 13 commonly spoken languages in India, and Section 1B has 20 foreign languages, including Sanskrit, Sindhi, and Kashmiri.

Three Sections in CUET

CUET is divided into three sections: Language Test, Domain Specific, and General Aptitude. Since the exam is divided into three sections, it will be tougher to figure out a study plan.

So, what are these three sections about? Let’s have a look:

Section 1 – The first section is the Language test. You must appear for at least one of the languages in the syllabus to get admission.

Section 2 – Section 2 is domain specific. This section is about the course/subject domains you can select. So here, you must prepare for the programme you want to apply for.

Section 3 – The third section is about General knowledge and Current Affairs. Considering the subject of this section, you will need to study GK, current affairs, logical and analytical reasoning, etc.

Now that we know about the 3 sections and what you need to study for each section let’s look at the tips to prepare for CUET from Class 11.

Why To Prepare For CUET From Class 11

The reason to know how to prepare for CUET from Class 11 is simple. The exam covers 3 sections, with the main syllabus being class 12th. Since most subject matter in class 11 is the foundation for class 12, you must start preparing for CUET early.

By preparing for CUET from the 11th standard, you will strengthen your fundamentals and core concepts early on. This will ensure you don’t struggle too much with the class 12 syllabus. By doing this, you can also improve your quantitative aptitude and language over 2 years.

How to Prepare for CUET from Class 11?

If you start preparing for CUET from class 11, you can get admission in ranking. Divided into three main sections – language, domain subjects and general test – the test is divided into prototypes, and intensive preparation is essential. In the beginning, choose your subjects correctly, focus on the syllabus and focus on time management. With constant practice, mock tests and prestigious study, you can take your preparation to the next level. Let’s know what essential things should be considered for adequate CUET preparation.

When you start to prepare for CUET from class 11th, you should pick your subject domains carefully. This is because there are many different courses of practice, such as biology, history, economics, etc.

Another reason to pick domain subjects carefully is because, in some cases, the university you want might not have the course you aim for. So, choose your subject carefully while checking which of your preferred universities have it. Decide your course early and stay determined to prepare according to it.

Another thing to consider before starting CUET preparation in the 11th class is choosing a school that provides special foundation batches for CUET preparation along with the 11th and 12th classes. Many schools in different cities already focus on competitive exams. So, choose carefully if you decide to change schools for CUET preparation.

And to help you choose a school, here are some factors you should consider:

  • Experienced faculty
  • Holistic development
  • School’s flexibility
  • Last year’s result of CUET in the particular school.

To help you get started, major cities and education hubs like Kota and Sikar have many schools that can help you prepare for CUET. Among all these available options, Prince Academy is considered the best CUET Coaching in Sikar.

As with any exam, you should make short and organised notes. Doing this will help you in your revisions. Do not forget to use your notes to revise topics regularly. Keeping short notes will help you to revise even lengthy topics in a very short time if you use them regularly.

Make a schedule with time given to both board and CUET preparation. This will help manage your time and allow you to prioritise your weaker subjects while keeping a balance with your regular studies.

One tip to manage your time is to study for school during school hours and the afternoon, leaving mornings and the night for CUET.

Solve mock tests and previous years’ question papers frequently to help identify your weak topics. Taking many mock tests will also help you understand the exam pattern and difficulty level of CUET. Lastly, make sure to spend time after each test to analyse your mistakes and learn from them.

Try to join or make a study group with other CUET aspirants. Being in a community like this will help to keep you motivated and determined. It will also give you different views on solutions to certain questions or problems. Being in group studies and discussions will inevitably help develop your critical thinking and analytical abilities as well.

Don’t overlook the usefulness of the internet. Use YouTube guides and freely available lectures to clarify tough topics. You can also use study guides and materials prepared by coaching centres after you finish studying the NCERT. You should also get advice and guidance from teachers and experts whenever needed or when possible.

Lastly, study according to a consistent schedule. Make sure that your schedule gives each subject equal attention. And don’t forget to take breaks to keep your mind and body healthy. Even if you think you’re not improving, staying consistent will help you improve immensely over 2 years.

Conclusion

If you start preparing for CUET from class 11th, you improve your fundamentals and have time to properly study the language and general section. Many think those sections will be too easy and lose marks in those exact sections.

Changes in CUET UG 2025

The Common University Entrance Test for undergraduate courses will have major changes in 2025. These changes include online exam mode, standard exam duration, reduced number of subjects, etc. However, there are many other changes in CUET UG 2025, which are mentioned in this article.

Before the online registration process for CUET UG 2025 begins, UGC (University Grants Commission) has announced important changes in the exam. These changes will be applicable from the 2025 session, so all the candidates appearing for CUET UG 2025 must be aware of these changes.

Major Changes in CUET 2025

Online exam, reduced number of subjects, exam duration, maximum subject selection, and removal of optional questions are the major changes in CUET UG 2025. Let us understand these changes in detail.

1. Online Exam: From 2025, the CUET UG exam will be conducted completely in online mode. Earlier, this exam was conducted in hybrid mode (online and offline). UGC has taken this step to maintain transparency in the exam.

2. Reduced Subjects: Till CUET UG 2024, students were allowed to take the entrance exam in 63 subjects for admission to central universities. However, in CUET UG 2025, the subject options have been reduced to 37.

3. Exam Duration: Earlier, in the CUET UG exam, there used to be different time duration for different subjects, but in CUET UG 2025, there will be a standard 60-minute time duration for all CUET UG candidates across the country.

4. No Optional Questions:  UGC will not implement any optional questions in CUET UG 2025. Before CUET 2025, there used to be optional questions, but now, in CUET UG 2025, candidates will have to attempt each question in the paper.

5. Maximum Subject Choice: From CUET UG 2025, students can choose a maximum of five subjects. The rule of choosing six subjects is now removed.

Benefits of Changes in CUET UG 2025

  1. Online exams will prevent incidents like question paper leaks.
  2. Management at exam centres will be easier, and a technically smooth process will be ensured.
  1. Students will get a chance to prepare better with fewer topics.
  2. Limited subject options will provide equal opportunities to students.
  1. A standard time limit for all students will make the examination process fair.
  2. Students will be able to manage their time more effectively.
  1. The performance of all students will be evaluated on an equal basis.
  2. Students must prepare thoroughly for the syllabus, which will promote in-depth study.
  1. The five-subject rule will help students to focus on their core interests and career-oriented subjects.
  2. Due to the reduction in the number of subjects, students will have the opportunity to improve their time management.

What about the removed 26 subjects?

Students are worried about the 26 removed subjects. If anyone there wants to be admitted to universities under those removed 26 subjects, they must take the CAT (Common Admission Test) as these subjects are added to the CA.

Well, coachings for CUET preparation are taking these changes in CUET 2025 very positively as these changes will make the exam procedure very smooth and more transparent.

Result Date for CUET 2024

Students are desperately waiting for the common university entrance test result 2024, as it is already late. The result was expected to be released on 10th July 2024, but it is gone, and the result is still pending. Well, keeping that aside, we are here to talk about the next expected result date for CUET 2024.

Let you know the CUET UG 2024 was conducted on 15th May 2024 in a hybrid mode, where the exam was in online mode and somewhere in pen-paper mode. After the exam, it’s been two months, but there is no update on the result or the date. That is why we are here to anticipate the result date for CUET 2024.

Anticipating Result Date for CUET 2024

Let it be very clear that there is no official update from the NTA itself on the CUET 2024 result date. However, the provisional answer key was released on the 7th of July 2024, along with the answer recorded OMR sheet. Meanwhile, the last date for the challenges in the answer key was 9th July 2024.

After the challenges were accepted, we all expected the final answer key and the result on 10 July 2024, but it didn’t happen. As a ritual, the official answer key will be released first, and then the NTA will release the result.

As per the track record of the last few years, there is not much difference between the release of the final answer key and the result. Most of the time, the result date and the final answer key release date are the same.

So, this year, we are also expecting the result date for CUET 2024 to be the same as the final answer key. We don’t have any official update for the answer key release date. But every time, the final answer key is released just after one or two days of challenges.

Expected Result Date for CUET 2024: After all the analysis and anticipation, the result date for CUET 2024 is between the 11th and 15th of July 2024. However, it is not official, but most probably, the CUET 2024 result will be released these days, along with the final answer key.

All of you are requested to keep checking the NTA website fees for the result update.
