CBSE Curriculum Update 2026

The CBSE is getting ready to make big changes to the CBSE curriculum. The newest curriculum for 2026-27 says that students will start learning about artificial intelligence (AI) in Class 9 and that they will have to learn three languages starting in Class 6.

CBSE is also going to make the academic framework stronger so that kids can be ready for competitive exams. Including JEE and NEET starting in ninth grade.

The New Education Policy (NEP 2020) brought about these changes. They want to make education more about ideas, technology, and preparing students for jobs in the future, rather than just reading books. If these reforms are implemented, the way students pursue their education could be very different.

JEE and NEET Preparation to Begin in Schools from Class 9 Onwards—CBSE Curriculum Update 2026 No. 1

The major update to the CBSE curriculum will be the embedding of the JEE-NEET framework in the class 9 syllabus.

Yes, you read it right: CBSE will now mold the syllabus and paper pattern according to the formats of competitive exams like JEE, NEET, CUET, etc.

CBSE is bringing this update to reduce students’ dependence on coaching. Until now, students who wanted to appear in exams like JEE and NEET had to join coaching for preparation, as the exam paper levels are higher than those in the board curriculum. As a result, over the past few years, students have shifted their focus from schools to coaching.

Hence, CBSE proposed a solution to level the curriculum and provide the JEE/NEET-level syllabus in schools.

This change will strengthen the school syllabus and prepare students for competitive exams without the need for extra coaching, simply by doing their board studies.

CBSE to Increase Competency Based Questions in CBSE 2026

From the 2026-27 session, CBSE will add the JEE-NEET-level frameworks to the exams.

AI in CBSE Curriculum From 9th Class: CBSE Curriculum Update 2026 No. 2

The second major update to the CBSE curriculum focuses on AI and computational thinking. The board is all set to integrate these two aspects into the CBSE curriculum from class 9th.

The objective of the CBSE is to enable students to acquire a foundational understanding of technology and the digital world from a young age.

In subjects related to AI, students will be taught the following:

  • How data works
  • How computers solve problems
  • The various fields in which Artificial Intelligence is being utilised
  • The role of AI in everyday life

Through this change in the CBSE curriculum, the board is trying to foster the development of both logical thinking and technical understanding among students.

As of now, the curriculum will be added from the next session. Moreover, AI subject exam will be mandatory from 2029.

Three languages Will Be Compulsory from Class 6: CBSE Curriculum Update 202 No. 3

The three-language formula will also be implemented in the new CBSE curriculum. According to this, students will be required to study three languages starting from Class 6.

Additionally, there is one vertical in this update; two of these three compulsory languages must be Indian languages.

For example, if a student chooses to study English, the remaining two languages could be Hindi, Sanskrit, or any other Indian language.

The objective of this change is to keep students connected with Indian languages and culture.

From the next session, 2026-27, three languages will be mandatory from class 6th.

Two Levels in Maths & Science From Class 9th: CBSE Curriculum Update 2026 No. 4

Another major change for CBSE classes 9 and above will be dual-level instruction in Maths and Science. In the new CBSE curriculum, the board plans to introduce two levels in two subjects: maths and science.

Basic and Advanced levels in Maths and Science in CBSE

As per the new curriculum, students will have the option to take these two-level papers in math and science.

The basic one will be mandatory for everyone, and it is the same as in previous years. It will be an 80-mark section that will be the primary one, and everyone has to take it.

But, a new level, the advanced level, will be there, worth 25 marks. This will be an optional section; students can choose it.

But, there is a catch: marks of the advanced section will not be included in the final score; only the basic section score will be calculated. However, if any student scores above 50% in the advanced section, the score will be listed separately on the marksheet.

This will be implemented from the next session, 2026-27.

CBSE’ New Assessment Pattern: CBSE Curriculum Update 2026 No. 5

The last chance in the new CBSE curriculum is the new assessment pattern. The motto behind this change is to ensure that students focus equally on memorisation and practical learning. Consequently, the examination pattern will be made more competency-based in the near future.

Under the new framework, internal assessment may be broadly categorized into four components:

  • Periodic Tests
  • Multiple Assessments
  • Portfolio Work
  • Subject Enrichment Activities

Moreover, in the board exams, approximately 50% of the questions may be based on case studies, data analysis, and application-oriented scenarios.

The assessment will be rolled out in the upcoming section in full. However, the board will start holding a separate exam of the business subject in the 2027-28 session.

A Last Few Words

By the end of the article, you must have realised that the CBSEis not the same anymore. You will have to change the approach you have been using so far. And not only will your teachers and school have to mould themselves according to the CBSE updated curriculum 2026-27.

As for its impact on you, it is certain to affect students in both negative and positive ways. If you embrace these changes, they will prove beneficial to you; conversely, if you continue to study using the same old methods, you will witness the detrimental consequences in your marks during the next academic session.

Your School’s Role in This is significant.

Your school will be the most important part of the process of getting used to these changes. The new CBSE curriculum will only work if schools give children a place to learn that encourages concept-based learning, technology literacy, and meeting the requirements of competitive exams.

A “Best CBSE School” is one that does more than just teach the syllabus. It also gets pupils ready for future competitive exams and their future jobs.

In this situation, several schools have already moved away from the traditional style of schooling and adopted a “competition schooling model.” For example, Prince Academy has long used a methodology in which students learn at a level of competitive exams in addition to the regular CBSE curriculum. This helps them create a strong base for

CBSE On-Screen Marking Rules 2026
CBSE On-Screen Marking Rules 2026

As most students are aware by now, this year’s CBSE 12th class answer copies will be checked digitally on-screen. This has been discussed in coaching centres, schools, and on social media. But we have seen there have been many rumours about the new policy. To burst the rumour cloud and clear students’ confusion, here we are with the CBSE on-screen marking rules 2026.

If you are a student and appearing in the 12th boards 2026, you must know these rules of CBSE on-screen marking 2026. These rules will clear your mind and reduce stress. Meanwhile, these rules include pointers for schools and teachers, so they are also welcome in this article.

Let’s Have a Brief on CBSE on Screen Marking 2026

This year, CBSE has implemented an on-screen marking system, currently only for the 12th-grade board exam. This means your entire answer sheet will be scanned and checked by the teacher on a computer screen. The old practice of holding the answer sheet in hand and flipping through the pages will no longer be in place.

Now, let’s move forward to the rules.

CBSE On-Screen Marking Rules 2026

There are many rules that will be rolled out under this scheme. These rules include a compulsion for schools to participate, priority for students in the optional questions, etc. Well, here are all the rules of CBSE on Screen Marking 2026;

The foremost rule of CBSE on-screen marking is about optional questions. If a question has two options and the student attempts both, the answer with the higher score will be counted. However, it is best to write the answer according to the instructions to avoid unnecessary confusion.

This on-screen marking system is currently only applicable to Class 12. The traditional system will continue for other classes.

Every single page of your copy will be scanned, whether the answer is written on it or not. Even blank pages will be visible in the system. So don’t leave anything out, thinking it might not be visible. Everything will be visible now.

If teachers proceed without checking a page, the system will alert them. The copy will not be submitted until every page has been entered. This virtually eliminates the possibility of complaints about unchecked pages.

All affiliated schools are required to participate in the evaluation process. If a school does not cooperate, its results may be withheld. For example, if a school has 500 students taking the exam, a corresponding number of teachers must participate in the evaluation.

All copies will first be scanned. Copies will be collected at each regional centre, scanned, and then uploaded to a central server. Teachers will then check them on screen.

Is CBSE On-Screen Marking 2026 Secure?

Yes, the system has been designed with both security and transparency in mind. Teachers can log in only from computers with registered IP addresses on the school premises. Checking copies from home or outside locations will not be permitted. This means access will be controlled, and every login and mark entry will be recorded in the system. This reduces the likelihood of any irregularities.

Furthermore, a trial run of the system has been conducted before the evaluation. The entire process, scanning, uploading, and digital checking, has been tested to minimise technical glitches. While no digital system can be said to be 100% error-free, this time the system will be more monitored and tracked than before. This simply means that students’ copies will now be checked in a more secure, recorded environment.

How many students will appear for the 12th board exams this year?

This year, approximately 1,859,479 students will appear for the exam, taking exams in approximately 120 subjects.

How many copies will be checked in total?

Approximately 1,0044,295 answer sheets will be checked onscreen. This system was deemed necessary to minimise the possibility of human error in such a large number of copies.

What if a teacher skips a page?

If a teacher skips a page without checking it, the system will immediately remind them that they have missed a page. They can’t proceed without completing it.

How many copies will a teacher be assigned at a time?

A teacher will be assigned approximately 20 copies to check at a time. This will ensure an organised and controlled process.

Will foreign teachers also be checking the answer sheets?

Yes. This year, some foreign teachers may also be involved in the evaluation process. This will broaden the scope of evaluation.

Big Change in CBSE Copy Checking 2026
Change in CBSE Copy Checking 2026

Ahead of the final board exams, CBSE has announced a major change in the CBSE copy-checking 2026. The process to check copies (answer sheets) is going to change completely. Earlier, copies were checked physically, but from 2026, the process will be completely digital. Yes, you heard it right, the CBSE 12th class copies will be checked digitally.

For the students who are going to appear in the 12th Board exam this year, it is big news. Obviously, there will be pros and cons to it. And here, in this article, we are going to see how the big change in CBSE copy checking 2026 will affect students.

What’s the Change in CBSE Copy Checking 2026?

Until now, the system involved answer sheets being transported from examination centres to evaluators, where they were checked manually, marks were added, and then the process continued. During this process, problems such as totalling errors, missing pages, or delays in re-evaluation often arose. CBSE is now going to address this weak link.

Under the new system, Class 12 answer sheets will be digitally scanned after the exams. Teachers will no longer receive physical copies. They will view the answers on a screen, assign marks, and submit them digitally. The entire process will be digital, from start to finish.

Benefits of Digital Copy Checking in CBSE 12th 2026

This decision by CBSE is not just a simple shift from “paper to screen.” It impacts the entire system where students’ hard work is translated into marks. Therefore, it’s crucial to understand its advantages and challenges in more detail.

1. Totalling Errors Will be Reduced

Every year, we see that the most common complaint is that, despite all the answers being correct, there was an error in the final total. Many students had to apply for re-evaluation solely for this reason. In the digital system, mark addition will be automated. This virtually eliminates the possibility of human error and assures students that they have received their full marks.

2. Revaluation And Rechecking Will be Much Simpler.

For physical copies, rechecking meant finding the copy, sending it back, and then waiting. With digital copies, all of this is possible with a single click. This not only speeds up the process but also provides the student with a clear explanation of where marks were deducted and why.

3. The result process will be the Faster

Previously, the process involved sending the answer sheets to the teachers, who would then check them. However, that transportation time has now been eliminated. Additionally, teachers had to manually enter and update records, but all of that time will now be saved, which means the CBSE 12th board results 2026 will be released earlier.

4. Transparency in evaluation will increase.

Last but not least, the benefit of the CBSE 12th 2026 digital copy checking is transparency. From this year, answer copies will be stored digitally, enabling central access to them. It will make the system and checkers more accountable for their checks and marks.

Why CBSE Copy Checking Changed and Digital Copy Checking Introduced?

If you have ever applied for re-evaluation, you know how long and uncertain the process can be. Sometimes, marks are reduced or increased simply due to totalling errors. Digital checking virtually eliminates this risk, as the system automatically calculates the totals.

Another major benefit is speed. The weeks spent on transporting physical copies will be saved. This will directly impact the result timeline. Results will be declared earlier, and the subsequent admission process will also be completed on time.

Will the CBSE Digital Copy Checking Rule be Applied For 10th Class?

No. This change is currently only for Class 12. No such decision has been implemented for Class 10 or other classes yet. Most probably, this is on the trail basis this year. But, we can expect it to be implemented for the 10th class from next year for sure.

Takeaways for Students

This doesn’t mean that handwriting, presentation, or the quality of answers will become less important. Teachers will still see exactly what you have written on the screen. The only difference is that your hard work will no longer be hampered by incorrect calculations or slow system performance.

Moreover, you have to take care of the writing more as there are high chances the bad writing copies don’t get scanned accurately.
